This Privacy Policy describes how Home Maintain ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our service at homemaintain.com (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (if you register with credentials)
  • Home and property information you enter (addresses, home details)
  • Maintenance task records and completion history
  • Capital improvement records, including descriptions, costs, dates, vendors, and uploaded receipts or photos
  • User settings and preferences (e.g., notification email, reminder preferences)
  • Information collected via OAuth: If you sign in using a third-party OAuth provider (such as Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider — typically your name and email address — as permitted by your authorization. We do not receive your OAuth provider password. The information we receive depends on the permissions you grant and the provider's own privacy policy.
  • Information collected automatically: Log data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps; usage data such as feature interactions and errors, collected via analytics and error-monitoring tools; and cookies and similar technologies used to maintain your session and improve the Service.
  • Payment information: We do not store your payment card details. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which collects and stores payment information subject to its own privacy policy. We receive transaction metadata (subscription status, billing period) from Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Send email reminders and notifications you have opted into
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Respond to support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below:

Service providers. We share data with vendors who help us operate the Service, including:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
  • Database and storage infrastructure (e.g., Supabase) — secure storage of your data

These providers are authorized to use your data only as necessary to provide services to us.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Home Maintain, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Home Maintain is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it longer due to legal obligations, backup retention schedules, or legitimate business purposes such as dispute resolution.

Uploaded files (receipts, photos) are deleted as part of the account deletion process, subject to the same retention considerations.

5. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure credential storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Choices

Account data. You can update your account information and preferences at any time from your account settings.

Email reminders. You can opt out of email reminders in your notification settings within the app.

Account deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@homemaintain.com.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

8. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice (such as by email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
